Stress. It has become a very common word in today's society, and the total number of working days lost due to this condition in 2014/15  in the UK was 9.9 million.


Many people think they are not affected by it, but the truth is, it manifests itself in the body in a myriad of ways, and is linked to many of the leading causes of death.  Heart disease, cancer, lung ailments, accidents, cirrhosis of the liver and suicide have all been asociated with chronic stress. Furthermore diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis and multiple sclerosis are known to develop earlier and can be made worse by chronic stress. There are even being studies being carried out to try and ascertain if stress is contributing to deterioration of memory and learning abilities linked to dementia

Welcome, my aim is to help you towards well being.

Of course, this is a rather depressing picture and worst case scenario, but there are many ways your body could be trying to tell you that it is suffering from stress;

  • Low energy

  • Headaches

  • Upset stomach, including diarrhoea, constipation and nausea

  • Aches, pains, and tense muscles

  • Chest pain and rapid heartbeat

  • Insomnia

  • Frequent colds and infections

  • Loss of sexual desire and/or ability

  • Nervousness and shaking, ringing in the ear

  • Cold or sweaty hands and feet

  • Excess sweating

  • Dry mouth and difficulty swallowing

  • Clenched jaw and grinding teeth.

  • Memory loss

  • Increased drinking of alcohol

  • Increased caffeine consumption and/or more smoking

  • Inability to focus on one thing at a time, or to concentrate

  • Excessive emotion, crying at small things

  • Inability to make a decision

  • Increased and suppressed anger

  • Feeling overwhelmed or out of control

These are just some of the things you could experience when you are suffering with stress. It is my aim to offer some of the therapies that can help you to manage your stress, through relaxation of the body and mind.
